James Gosling James Gosling completed a PhD in computer science and contributed to software innovation. Gosling was born in 1955 near Calgary in Canada. He invented the Java programming language, the first programming language which was able to adapt to highly distributed applications and is designed to work with the Internet. He is the father of the programming language which changed the world forever. He is currently a chief technology officer of Sun Microsystems, which he joined in 1984. In the 90s Gosling founded the Green project, which eventually was renamed to Java. The aim of the software he created was to work on as many platforms and devices as possible without it requiring customization each time. Despite the fact most of the technology developed by Gosling within project Green was never released, he saw some underlying principles would be very handy for the current Internet era.
